One facet of the Portage Community Revitalization Corporation has a new assistant. Jacinda Houle has come aboard the Portage Urban Indigenous Peoples Coalition and works with coordinator Cornell Pashe. Pashe says she was a big part of their current Urban Indigenous Food and Cleaning Hamper Program. She explains her responsibilities now that she's a part of the PCRC team.

This is on top of her current role as City Youth Councillor.

"I run the two social media pages and I'm in charge of sharing content on there, and I also help Cornell with computer material," says Houle. "I help him write updates for Coalition meetings. I also help out with his Coalition and the Coalition meetings. I send out emails to the Coalition members then I'll record the minutes and write down notes."

She says she learned about the job after she applied for a position at PCRC, learning that she was too young.

"So, I was recommended this position which I had no idea about, and I'm actually really happy that I got it," adds Houle. "Cornell does a lot of work involving community members and youth in the community. Basically, I want to get youth involved and do more things and get more opportunities that involves youth in this community. I think that's why I was really interested in this position as well, so I could have that opportunity."
