Dakota Tipi First Nation celebrated National Indigenous Peoples Day with a special commemoration.

Chief Eric Pashe says they unveiled a billboard written with the names of residential school survivors from his community. He notes it also gives honour to the children who never came home.

A woman from Treaty 4 territory in Saskatchewan also made a special gifting to the First Nation of a ceremonial drum depicting a bear, which was actually made from the region where the Kamloops Residential School was located. She spoke at the ceremony and noted that it was given to her some time ago, and she felt today was the perfect time to do something significant with it.
