Dakota Tipi First Nation has been doing a great job of staving off the pandemic.

They've only had one COVID-19 case scare but got the all-clear.

Chief Eric Pashe says Dakota Tipi has been minimizing infection chances by not hosting events.

"We took the approach with regards to restricting those as much as possible from September through December. This year, we've sought to restrict events here that we would normally have in the community."

Pashe hopes that they can withstand the pandemic as a community and look towards a new normal.

Dakota Tipi unveiled their new outdoor hockey rink last year, Pashe is optimistic that it will get used this year.

"With our rink, we're hoping that we can continue to remain on schedule with the activities and programming that we wanted to engage in as we approach the fall season."

Dakota Tipi is actively assessing all situations and is hoping things get back to normal.
