École Communautaire Gilbert-Rosset celebrated their 20th anniversary on Wednesday.

Staff, students, families and special guests gathered at the small French school in Saint Claude to mark the occasion by sharing stories about the school's founding. Principal Lise Poiron says it's hard to describe the feeling that comes with reaching this milestone.

"Twenty years goes by in a flash," says Poiron, "but really it's filled with so many special moments and there's a lot of meaning to it. It's a little bit of an emotional roller coaster right now but I strongly believe that this school will continue to prosper with it's language and it's culture."

She notes it takes a special group of people to make a small school like ÉCGR as successful as it is, acknowledging all the support from families, staff and the school division.

The school also unveiled their new logo. Poiron says the project to create the new logo was initiated a few years ago by the previous principal, Diane Poiron-Toupin.

"[She] got it started with ideas that she received from families and students and the staff," explains Poiron. "It just evolved into a committee, also with the help of DSFM Webmaster Françoise Génuit. Many meetings and many different prototypes and, finally, today we have our final logo."

The new logo features Essor the hawk, the school's mascot, on a deep blue background.
