The Portage la Prairie MCC Thrift Shop has held days in the past dedicated to helping out organizations in the community, and on Monday, it was the Family Resource Centre's turn.

Program Coordinator for the FRC Peter Thiessen says while MCC has worked with the organization in the past, this was his first time getting to work with them personally. He goes into detail on how much money they were able to raise from the fundraising day.

"MCC very generously gave us a check for $3000 from the event," explains Thiessen. "So, we're super thankful for the opportunity to be a part of that."

He adds, that while he isn't 100 per cent sure where that money will go yet, it's a relief to get it as it can be a struggle to get money from grants sometimes. He mentions it was great to see the community come out and support them throughout the day.

"We were thrilled, first of all, that we were able to partner with MCC and also just so grateful for the number of people who came out to support us," notes Thiessen. "The number of people who came and said hi and the people who yeah asked about what we do it was a neat opportunity to share a little bit about who we are and what we offer in this community."

He mentions it was a treat to work with MCC as the staff there were very welcoming and friendly.
