With the wildfire disaster in Fort McMurray raging on many of us are looking for ways to help our fellow Canadians. Below you'll find a list of things you can do to help.
- Text the word REDCROSS to 30333 to donate $5 (a confirmation text will appear before any money is accepted).
- Visit the Canadian Red Cross website and donate a specific amount (this can be done as an individual or as an organization.
- You can call the Red Cross at 1-888-350-6070 for family reunification.
- Edmonton Emergency Relief Services are looking for volunteers (for those in the Edmonton area) along with donations of diapers, baby wipes, toiletries, socks and unerwear. Call 780-428-4422 for more information.
- Edmonton's Food Bank is providing resources to evacuees. Monetary donations can be made at their website.
- A Facebook Page has been setup to help evacuees find resources along with more information on how Canadians can help.
- Evacuees who have children with medical needs will be staying at Ronald McDonald House Northern Alberta. Donations can be made online.
- For those who would like to open their doors or provide donations other than money, a Facebook Page has been setup to contact affected families.
