UPDATE: Power now restored to École Arthur Meighen, all schools have power.

Power is out in several parts of town including École Arthur Meighen School and Mellenville. Oak Bay has also reported power outages.

Police, fire and emergency vehicles were on the scene at about 7 a.m. near the corner of Meighen Avenue and River Road attending a hydro pole breakage. The top of the pole was damaged with sparks flashing, evidently being part of the cause of the power outages.

Emergency vehicles left the scene and one hydro truck remained on the scene by the pole at about 7:45 a.m.

École Arthur Meighen School is closed due to power outage and parents are advised to keep their children home and to check with social media for updates.
