From February 11th to February 17th the Portage la Prairie RCMP responded to 289 calls to service. Some of the incidents are outlined below.

February 11th, Portage la Prairie RCMP responded to a Break and Enter to a residence in the 100 block of 1st Street NW. Upon arriving on the scene it was made clear whoever broke in did so through the back door. There was extensive damage to the interior of the residence. It is unknown if there was anything taken. The RCMP are asking that if anyone had seen anything suspicious the previous night to call the Portage la Prairie RCMP at 204-857-4445 or Crime Stoppers 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).

February 15th, The Portage la Prairie RCMP Conducted a traffic stop on Saskatchewan Avenue in Portage la Prairie. The 60-year-old male driver showed signs of impairment and provided a breath sample on a roadside screening device and failed. The driver was then taken to the Detachment and it was found he was over the legal limit. He was charged with impaired operation of a conveyance and drive a conveyance while over .08. The vehicle was towed and the driver was released to appear in court at a later date.

February 16th, Around midnight the Portage la Prairie RCMP conducted a traffic stop on Road 48 North and Road 40 West. The 31-year-old female driver from Long Plain First Nation was asked to provide a breath sample, she did. The result was a warning and the drivers licence was suspended for 72 hours. The driver also received a fine for $113.00 for having alcohol in her blood while having a novice drivers licence. 

February 17th, Portage la Prairie RCMP received a call of shoplifting from a business on Saskatchewan Avenue West. Officers arrived and with the description and the direction of travel, RCMP were able to locate and arrest two females in their twenties for theft under $5000.00. The females were released to appear in court at a later date and are not allowed back at that business.
