Keystone Agricultural Producers (KAP) will be holding their annual meeting on January 25 and 26 to look back on 2021.

Community and government relations manager Graham Schellenberg says the 38th annual meeting will have a big focus on collaboration being one of the cornerstones of agricultural production. He talks about some of the other topics they'll be covering.

"There's also going to be presentations about agriculture in the environment, farm safety, grain marketing, and a lot more," notes Schellenberg. "Our keynote speaker is Olympic medalist and and mental health advocate Clara Hughes, which is it's just going to be great to have her speak."

He adds mental health is an important discussion to be having in agriculture. He notes while they were hoping to have a hybrid meeting, with some portions being online and some in-person, they decided to go fully virtual for this year's meeting following the rise in COVID-19 cases.

"Everyone is welcome to attend," says Schellenberg. "It doesn't matter if you're a voting delegate, just an observer, or media, we want to hear from you. It's really the voice of our members that's essential to our work."

Day one of the meeting will run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., and day two will go from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

"It's really important for us to hear from our members," adds Schellenberg. "It was a tough 2021 and KAP's been working on a number of files, whether it be bio-security and trespassing, droughts, class-one licensing, or carbon pricing. There's a lot of things we're working on right now, and. there are lots of conversations to come."
