On April 10, at 3:25 p.m., officers were conducting a patrol on Highway 7 in the RM of Rockwood when they performed a traffic stop on a pickup truck towing a utility trailer.

"When they performed a traffic stop on a pickup truck that was towing utility trailer... officers were speaking with the driver, one of them observed a firearm in the vehicle," says RCMP Media Relations Officer Sgt. Paul Manaigre. "They became a bit concerned. This led to his arrest. A further search fo the truck then led to two additional firearms being located. One of them being prohibited."

Manaigre says the utility trailer was also discovered to have been reported stolen from Winnipeg back in October of 2017. Further investigation led to a search warrant being executed on April 11 at a residence located in the RM of Rockwood.

"(Police) located additional stolen property as well as a large quantity of firearms, ammunition and other firearm material. He was basically released for court," adds Manaigre. "He's not held in custody and then he's got an appearance now scheduled for July 20th in Stonewall. This investigation, I guess I will add, was completed by our new East District Crime Reduction Team / Enforcement Support Team (CREST), the National Weapons Enforcement Support Team (NWEST), The Roving Traffic Unit and Stonewall RCMP."
