Team Randy Neufeld has seen plenty of success over the years. And the Manitoba squad is hoping to add another national championship to their resume this week in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia. The Canadian Senior Men's Curling Championships are underway and the foursome is off to a perfect start.

The team, consisting of skip Neufeld from La Salle, Dean Moxham of Oakville (third), Peter Nicholls (second), and Dale Michie of Portage, (lead) is off to a 4-0 start following two round-robin wins today. Their perfect record has them on top of Pool A with two more matches to go.

The event started Sunday but the team's first game wasn't until yesterday when they defeated Alberta 7-6 to open the event. They followed that up with an 11-1 win over Newfoundland/Labrador.

Today's games were very close but the foursome came out on top in both of them. The early morning draw went to extra ends against previously undefeated Saskatchewan, who tied the match in the final end. But it was all in vain as Neufeld used the hammer to help score 2 and take home a 6-4 victory. Riding that high into their afternoon game, Manitoba jumped out to a 2-0 lead against Prince Edward Island. But victory was far from easy. P.E.I. would steal points in the final two ends and it was off to extras once again. This time Neufeld would score one for the 5-4 win.

The team has two more round-robin games tomorrow and at that point, they will find out who is in the next round. They already know they will be a part of that group with the record they have but will still be looking for more wins to improve their odds as the event moves along.  Wednesday, they play Northwest Territories (0-5) at noon and New Brunswick (3-1) at 4 p.m.

The foursome has several provincial titles to go along with a Canadian Championships in 2015.  They were silver medalists at the world event in Sweeden 2016.
