The Portage and District Arts Centre in Portage la Prairie's undergoing a facelift for its galleries and gift shop. Part of the work's already complete, and executive director Margaret Bernhardt-Lowdon notes she hopes it gives a new atmosphere to the centre.

The new flooring"We put new flooring in the gift shop and new flooring in the back entrance and the board room," explains Bernhardt-Lowdon. "We're also going to be doing some painting over the summer, and we've created a new gallery so we can exhibit more artwork."

She explains the floor was tiled and many of the tiles were lifting and had to be replaced. Bernhardt-Lowdon says they installed a vinyl plank with the appearance somewhat of rustic wood, and is expected to be more durable. She adds they're painting the walls either a white or gray to focus the attention on the artwork to make it pop.
