The Portage Terriers have a new president to head up their board of directors. David Koroscil will take over from the exiting president, Stan Killam. He spoke about his time so far with the team.

"I've been with the Terrier organization, on the board, for a couple of years now and worked behind the scenes as a volunteer prior to that," says Koroscil. "I'm looking forward to it. There'll be a lot of new roles and responsibilities with it and a lot of challenges but I'm up for that. I'm feeling fairly comfortable with the way the organization is. We've come through a period of quite a few successes."

Koroscil spoke about some of the changes they will be looking to make in the coming seasons.

"We're going to try and improve the image of the team," notes Koroscil. "I think one of the things we want to look at is get the team members, the players, a little more involved in the community. Whether that's attending schools more often than they do now or different functions as well. We want to increase the profile of the team."

He also talked about some of the challenges that will be involved with running the team.

"I think the biggest thing, in particular with the MJHL, that faces all teams is maintaining a viable organization," adds Koroscil. "It gets back to fundraising, we're a non-profit organization, getting out and getting the public involved and making sure that we can run the organization effectively and properly. At the same time, we need to have a good product for the community to come out and watch."

The Terrier's season gets underway on September 21st on the road against the Winnipeg Blues. Their first home game of the year will be two days later, September 23rd, also against the Blues.
