The R.M. of Portage la Prairie held their council meeting last week. One of the items on the agenda involved the town of Oakville.

CAO Nettie Neudorf explains what happened.

“We have put out a local improvement plan for the residents on 6th Avenue to have pavement overlayed on their street. That process requires a hearing, and that did take place at this week’s council meeting.”

After prosing the plan, they opened the floor for any comments or concerns. There was only one concern, but the council decided to move ahead with the request.

Here’s what happens next.

“If the municipal board approves that project, then the council will proceed to give the borrowing bylaw that is required a second and third reading. Then we will proceed to tender the project.

They anticipate paving to occur in the fall of this year.
