It was just a couple of days ago on January 3rd that 26 year-old Warren Wright, 26 was listed as wanted on the Manitoba RCMP social media feeds and website. Now, thanks to tips the RCMP received from the public, Wright is in custody. The tips that came in helped police to locate the wanted man at a remote hunting cabin in the RM of Armstrong Thursday morning just after 7:00 am.

When Wright was located, ammunition and weapons were strewn around the room. He was also on a court-ordered prohibition from owning, possessing, or carrying ammunition. The fugitive was also found in possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. Police Service Dog Phox was able to locate the pickup truck Wright had been spotted in earlier, which was hidden in the woods near the cabin. The truck was stolen out of Steinbach, and there was stolen property in the truck, including a stolen license plate out of Winnipeg.

Wright was arrested for three outstanding warrants for Possession of Property Obtained by Crime and Failure to Comply x7. He is now facing new charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000 x2, and Failure to Comply with Court Ordered Conditions x5.

Wright has been remanded in custody.

A 27-year-old female from Winnipeg was also arrested at the scene for Possession of a Controlled Substance. She was released with a court date.

“The public is an integral part of keeping communities safe,” said Staff Sergeant Rob Gray, Gimli RCMP Detachment Commander. “In this case, the tips we received led us to arrest this individual in a very timely manner, and he is now facing additional charges. We thank the public for their efforts in helping us keep Manitobans safe.”
