The United Way Central Plains had their annual spaghetti luncheon earlier today at the Herman Prior Centre. Executive Director Pamela Lotun says the event is put on every year by the local Manitoba Government Employees Union.

"The spaghetti luncheon is put on by MGEU employees every year in support of the United Way Central Plains," notes Lotun. "It's a huge fundraiser for us and all of the proceeds go towards our fundraising campaign. We invite the community to come out and have lunch while supporting the United Way."

Lotun says people didn't have to come in to the Herman Prior Centre in order to be a part of the event.

"We usually serve about 600 meals," says Lotun. "Between deliveries and walk-ups. We provide volunteers for the deliveries and Craig Dunn donates two delivery vehicles for us to use."

Local MGEU members help serve the meals and clean up dishes while people enjoy some delicious pasta and entertainment by local musician Paul Sheppard.
