The Portage Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) is hoping that its Buy-A-Brick donation drive will push them over the finish line when it comes to constructing their new building.

Stephanie Arnott, director of fundraising, says the donation drive is a way for Portagers to support PAWS directly. She explains how you'll be remembered for your donation in the new facility.

"It's a way for people to sponsor or donate to the building directly and then be celebrated on our wall of honour in our new office," notes Arnott. "It's going to be in our new entryway when you first walk in."

She adds they're currently at phase three of construction, which happens to be the most expensive part of the project. She goes into detail on what that means, and the parts of the building currently in progress.

"Drywall, all the electrical, and plumbing needs to get put in, as well as finishing the inside," notes Arnott. "Cages and isolation rooms for our cats which will help our intake move along faster, things like that."

The Buy-A-Brick donations start at $250, and the organization is roughly $150,000 away from its goal. They're also planning a garage sale on August 20, with more information on that to come.
