Two Zone 4 High School girls soccer teams received automatic berths into the Provincial Championships this weekend in Stonewall while three boys teams from Zone 4 will try for wildcard spots.

Portage Collegiate and Garden Valley girls teams were given the automatic berths by the Manitoba High Schools Athletic Association. Miller Collegiate and MCI will meet today in Winkler while Portage Collegiate will face Swan Valley in Dauphin. The winners will get the boys wildcard spots. Garden Valley boys and Miller girls captured the Zone titles last week.


The Winnipeg Blue Bombers suffered their second loss in a row dropping a 38-25 decision to Calgary. Stamps quarterback Henry Burris tossed five touchdown passes. Winnipeg quarterback Kevin Glenn completed 19 of 33 passes for 349 yards. Glenn had touchdown passes to Milt Stegall and Terrence Edwards while Charles Roberts had a two-yard touchdown run. The Bombers, who clinched a playoff spot this past weekend when the B.C. Lions beat Edmonton, lead the CFL's East Division by just one point over Toronto. Montreal is three points back. Winnipeg has three games left. The Bombers will host Calgary this Friday, meet the Argo's in Toronto next weekend and end the regular season schedule at home against the Alouettes on November 2nd.
