The Portage Community Revitalization Corporation, Portage la Prairie & District Chamber of Commerce, Military Family Services and the Portage Family Abuse Prevention Centre are hosting the International Women's Day event once again in Portage. Executive Director Victoria Espey talks about what will be taking place this year.

"We're really excited because this year's theme is 'Each For Equal' and it's about women in predominantly male filled roles," says Espey. "We're really excited to bring out Leah Hextall as our main speaker this year."

Espey says they will also have another local speaker coming to talk about women working in trades.

Appetizers will be served and there will be a wine bar as well with tickets being $25.

Espey gives more details on Hextall.

"Leah is a sports reporter," says Espey. "She's coming out to tell her story about how she got involved in that world, which is a male-dominated role, announcing and calling hockey games. She's coming out to talk about her journey and her path. We're really excited to hear her story."

The International Women's Day event will be taking place on March 12th at the William Glesby Centre at 6:00.

Tickets are available at the PCRC office.
