The Portage Voyageur Lions Club has donated food and hygiene items to the Portage Bear Clan.

Lion Robert Martin, president for the Portage Voyageur Lions Club, says this donation is one of several that they try to run every year, with other notable recipients such as the Salvation Army. He goes into detail on the donation drive.

"We set up on Saturday the 17th," says Martin. "We were collecting different clothing, food and toiletry hygiene products for the Bear Clan."

He adds this can only be done every once in a while, as the club has gone down to only three members. He says they're always looking for more members and you don't need to have a lot of free time to give to become a member.

"All someone would have to do is go online to Lions Club International and download the application form," explains Martin. "Just give me a call, we can take their application and then we initiate you as a member."

He adds the more members they have, the more things they'd be able to do to support the community. The club is looking for members who are 18 or older, and anyone interested can find the application here.
