The Portage Wildlife Club is celebrating its second year of operation. The club has grown to 200 members since it started 2 years ago. Rod Gladue is President of the club and says if you're interested in hunting, but don't know where to begin, you should get in touch with them.

"Hopefully we can get to a point somewhere down the road that we're helping people start getting into this, and doing mentored hunts and stuff," says Gladue. "We've had some of our directors and members that have this stuff with other organizations through the years, and it's worked well. "

Gladue notes that the club aims to aid wildlife conservation and to teach proper hunting practices. The club is associated with the Manitoba Wildlife Federation. Gladue explains that they're always looking for new ways to raise awareness for the club. one of these ways is through a fundraising banquet they hold. This will be their second annual. it's at the MNP Exhibition building at Island Park this Saturday, Dinner is at 6:30. you can get tickets at Macdonald's Sporting Goods in Portage.
