At around 4:30 p.m., on April 15, Portage la Prairie RCMP received a call of an erratic driver on 13th Street SW in Portage la Prairie.

Media Liaison Officer Constable Larry Neufeld says officers attended and found the vehicle on 12th Street SW and initiated a traffic stop. He notes there were indications made at the traffic stop that made the officers believe the 44-year-old woman from Portage la Prairie was operating the vehicle while impaired.

She was arrested and taken to the RCMP Detachment where the breath samples she provided were more than double the legal limit. The driver was charged with impaired operation of a conveyance and operation of a conveyance with over 80mg%. He says that she also received a ticket for driving without a license, a $298 infraction.

The driver was released to appear in court at a later date and the vehicle was towed and impounded for a minimum of 60 days.
