A Portage city councillor hopes a legal challenge on Thompson's curfew is quashed.

Dave Quinn is concerned with how a mother and son argue keeping kids off the streets at night is against the Charter of Rights.  The son works late hours, but Quinn explains such curfew by-laws accommodate to valid reasons.

Quinn points to the Highway Traffic Act and stresses there are several laws people have to abide by.

A similar curfew by-law was enacted in Portage about nine years ago to assist RCMP curb rising vandalism, although Quinn expected such by-laws to be challenged.
