The RM of Portage la Prairie feels everything's apparently safe in regard to possible flooding this spring.

"As of right now, we're standing in a pretty good position," says Reeve Kam Blight. "We know what to expect coming from the west, and we're not alarmed by any means. This is something that's very manageable. In fact, it's going to be kind of like a more normal year. However, things can change. So, we're going to continue to monitor things very closely. We'll adapt, adjust and react as need be."

He notes he understands he doesn't need to remind everyone of the challenging years we've faced in the past but says it is nice that it seems we'll have more of a normal spring run-off season. Blight adds he's also aware things can change quite quickly, and they'll continue to monitor conditions very closely.
