The curling league in Haywood and St. Claude are looking for people to "hurry hard" and register.

Secretary Ginette Philipot says the two communities always worked together for the curling league, as they're just ten minutes apart. She explains they're trying to run a league that's inclusive for everybody.

"It's a regular curling game open to men and women. You can have it be all men, all women, or mixed," notes Philipot. "We usually play regular eight-end games. We start games at 6:30 on Thursday nights and then we have another draw at 8:30 depending on how many teams we have."

She adds, in addition to those times, they're also pushing for Tuesday afternoon games with two-person teams as well. They also have a junior rock curling program that will be free of charge.

"It's for kids 6 to 12 years old, and it's probably going to start in January, and it'll most likely run for 8 to 10 weeks, just to learn the basics of curling," says Philipot. "We have junior rocks, they're a smaller rock than the adult ones."

Prices for the Thursday league is $600, while the Tuesday league is $300. The rink is located at 114 3rd Street, Saint Claude.

She notes they can run three games at a time at their curling rink, and their junior rock program already has around 15 kids. Those interested in joining the curling league can contact Philipot at 204-871-6771, and for the junior program, contact Janice at 204-856-9169.
