A Portage Terrier defenceman came up big, not for a stellar play on the ice, but rather for his finesse on the golf course.

Sean Kliewer shot the Men's Low with a 72 at the Terriers Annual Golf Tournament held yesterday evening at the Portage Golf Club. Kathy Keast had the Women's Low with an 86 at the event which is a fundraising vehicle for the Manitoba Junior Hockey League club.

Kliewer says despite thunderstorms being forecast the weather held up and it turned out to be a great day for golf. He adds it was nice to see some of his teammates again who had left the area following the Dogs' playoff run.

Chris Dyer, who co-chairs the tournament, says the event would never happen without corporate, business and individual sponsorship as well as the many people who enter to compete in the tournament. He notes the entire Terrier organization appreciates the support, adding they'll be looking to build on yesterday's event for the entire year.

Next up for the Terriers is their season ticket campaign, for more information contact Board President Brad Sanderson.
