The Portage Terriers ended their season on the right note as they took down the OCN Blizzard 4-1 tonight.

Just two minutes into the first period, Carter Barley brought the puck into the offensive zone on the power-play. He dished it off to the cutting Logan Christensen who went to his backhand in tight but was robbed.

With three minutes to go in the frame, Bradyn Smelski had the puck in a 2-on-1 opportunity, he tried to pass it down low for Jaden Pashe to tap in but the puck was just out of his reach.

Under 30 seconds left in the period, Parker Malchuk made a short pass to Sam Huston at the point and he fired a slap-shot toward the net but it rang off the cross-bar.

Seven minutes into the second, with the Terriers on the power-play, Joey Moffat came from the corner before he skated the puck into the slot and took a shot on net. The shot was stopped but the rebound bounced to the opposite side for Logan Calder who fired a shot from the top of the circle which opened the scoring.

Five minutes to go in the frame, with OCN on the power-play, Sam Willits took a shot from the point that was tipped on its way by Boston Bird and it went top shelf making it 1-1 after two periods.

A little over a minute into the third, Owen Murray made a pass from the Terriers' end to the opposite blue line where Moffatt was skating up the ice. He entered the Blizzard's zone with no one around him and ripped a shot that beat the goaltender. 2-1 Terriers.

Near the five minute mark in the period, Calder received a short pass from Moffatt as he cut down the middle. He got around a defender before he made a move in tight to get the goalie out of position and put it in the open cage.

The Terriers were short-handed with close to five minutes left of play. Ocean Wiesblatt had the puck in a 2-on-1 chance and he threaded the needle to Reece Henry who tapped in his 13th of the season. That brought us to the final score of 4-1.

Forward Reece Henry talks about the keys to the victory.

"I think all of the four lines we had were rolling, skating hard, and being physical in their end," says Henry. "I thought we were battling pretty good, winning them all over the ice. I thought the boys were rolling."

Henry also outlines what changes moving into the postseason.

"You just have got to play harder," says Henry. "Be harder on sticks and harder on pucks. You have got to know you're playing them (again) the next day, or whatever. You just have got to be hard on them and battle all the way through."

The Terriers will open the playoffs at home on Friday, March 6th against either the Dauphin Kings or Virden Oil Capitals.
