The Manitoba Junior Hockey League has officially announced their full schedule for the 2020-21 season. One big change this year due to COVID-19 is the number of games played being shortened from 60 games down to 40.

Also new this year is the implementation of divisions. The league says this will limit travel and will limit the number of teams playing each other over a short period of time. There are three divisions that each include four teams. This may create some rivalries as well because each team will play the teams in their division eight times apiece and only play the rest of the teams twice.

The Portage Terriers will be a part of the Interior division which also includes the Neepawa Natives, Winkler Flyers, and Virden Oil Capitals. The Terriers will open their season with four straight games against Virden which will be typical when facing division opponents. When facing out of division teams, they will play both games and finish off the season series before facing another team.

Games will be played almost exclusively on weekends with each team only playing twice a week. The 22 week season will begin October 9th and go until March 13th.

The Terriers will begin their season with two straight road games in Virden(October 9th and 11th). The Dogs will finish off the four-game stretch against Virden in Stride Place the following weekend with the home opener taking place on October 16th at 7:30.
