The Terriers had a blast this past Louis Riel Monday, both on and off the ice.

After the Terriers took down the Niverville Nighthawks 8-2 on February 19th, they split into two groups. One of the groups got back out on the ice to take photos and skate with fans, while the other group signed their own Terrier trading cards for fans in the Stride Place concourse.

Defenceman Ashton Fishley hopes the win and following activities were the cherry on top of a day without school for Portagers.

"When we were younger, we always looked up to junior guys," explains Fishley. "It's awesome being the guys that these kids are looking up to. It's great that we got these hockey cards to sign for them."

On top of the activities after the game, some pre-game Louis Riel Day activities happened at Stride Place, including hayrides, which took children for a trip outside the building.

President Dave Koroscil says that as it's one of the team's few afternoon games, they've circled this matchup on their calendar for quite some time.

"It's a good chance for the players to interact with their young fans," states Koroscil. "You can see by the lineup for kids wanting to meet the players and get their hockey cards signed to keep for a memory."

He adds that it was an excellent performance by the team in a game with higher-than-average attendance due to the activities that also went off without a hitch.

"It's awesome seeing everyone out here," notes Fishley. "The fans are helping us win this season, and we're looking forward to the playoffs. Keep coming and watching; we love it."
