The Portage Terriers are back on the ice tonight in the MJHL. They are on the road taking on the Waywayseecappo Wolverines. Portage is coming off an 8-2 dismantling of the Selkirk Steelers on Wednesday night which pushed their winning streak to four games. The Wolverines dropped a close game to the Winnipeg Blues in their last outing by a score of 4-3. The Terriers currently sit in first place in league standings while Waywayseecappo is right in the thick of things at fourth. In their only other meeting so far this season, the Terriers picked up a 6-2 victory on the road.

Terrier captain Ty Barnstable says they will need to be ready for a better game from the Wolverines than their last matchup.

"It should be a good game," notes Barnstable. "They'll probably have a better effort than the last game so we'll have to be ready for that and match it."

The newest Terrier, Eli Lieffers, says it's important they strike first to establish a tone for the game.

"Obviously on the road the biggest thing is coming off the bus with a good start which helps a lot," says Lieffers. "The five games that I've been here we've played better when we score the first goal so that's what we'll be looking for."

It gets interesting when you look at their penalty kill however, as they are the best team in the league when they are down a man. They kill penalties at an 87.3% mark.

Portage has a great chance to keep their winning streak going through this weekend. Waywayseecappo had a hot start to the season but has cooled down considerably. The Terriers showed how well they could play when everything comes together and they looked great. The Dogs have the most prolific offence in the MJHL and will look to get to Wolverines netminder Labelle early as his season has been fantastic so far, leading the league in most major goaltending categories. If Portage can win, they will extend their season-high winning streak to five games.
