On Wednesday, February 14, just after 9 a.m., Portage la Prairie RCMP received a call of a theft from a business in the 2100 block of Saskatchewan Avenue West in Portage la Prairie.

When officers arrived, they were informed that a woman suspect had entered a vehicle and was leaving.

An officer conducted a traffic stop with the suspect vehicle and placed a 30-year-old woman from Long Plain First Nation under arrest for Shoplifting.

She had provided the officer with a fake name, which was learned later, back at the RCMP Detachment.

She is charged with Theft Under $5000.00 and Obstruct a Peace Officer.

She was released the next day with court ordered conditions and is to appear again in court at a later date.
