The lead changed several times yesterday, between Central Plains Capitals and Kenora Thistles at the BDO Centre in Portage la Prairie, but at the the final buzzer, it was a 6-4 Manitoba AAA Midget Hockey League triumph for Kenora.
The Thistles started the scoring at 9:15 of the first period, and the 1-0 lead lasted until the first minute of the second, when Kenora made it 2-0.
The Caps roared back after that, with three straight goals from Cameron Trimble, Marcus Dewey, and Evan Palmer.
Kenora got one back with just over a minute left in the period, to tie the game.
In the third, Kenora took the lead at 8:46, but Alex Cattani squared it for the Caps at 12:26.
The Thistles scored about 5 minutes later, and sealed the win with an empty net goal at 19:20.
Ciaran McVicker took the loss in goal for the Caps, facing 22 shots.
Next up for the Caps is a trip to Winnipeg on Saturday afternoon, to take on Winnipeg Wild.
