On April 10, at about 4:40 p.m., Ashern RCMP received a report of a carjacking at knifepoint that occurred on Kirkfield Drive in Ashern.

The victim, a 26-year-old man from the community, said he was outside his residence when he was approached by three individuals, one man and two women known to him, who demanded his vehicle keys and threatened him with a knife. The keys were provided and the suspects fled the scene.

Responding officers located the stolen vehicle abandoned a short distance away and were informed that another vehicle had stopped to pick up the fleeing suspects.

A short time later, an officer located the second vehicle stopped at a gas station on Highway 6 near Eriksdale.

As the officer pulled in behind the suspect vehicle, he observed three occupants seated in the vehicle, two women and one man. The women exited the vehicle and entered the gas station. The mean remained seated in the rear seat. When the women left the store, they were both arrested without incident and placed into the police vehicle.

The male suspect, believed to still be armed with a knife, then left the vehicle and was placed under arrest. The suspect began yelling at the officer and refused to comply with demands made by police and became combative. A conducted energy weapon was deployed to safely take the suspect into custody. A search of the suspect located the knife in his possession.

RCMP charged Tyler Abraham, 24, of Winnipeg, with:

  • Robbery, Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose,
  • Carrying a Concealed Weapon
  • Two counts of Fail to Comply with Release Order Conditions.

He was remanded into custody.

Sky McKay, 22, and Kaitlyn Pierreroy, 32, both currently residing in Ashern, were charged with Robbery and later released for court scheduled June 20, 2024, in Lundar.

Ashern RCMP continue to investigate.
