Portage MLA David Faurschou says the opening of the fall legislative session is way too late.

Earlier today premier Gary Doer announced it'll run from November 15th to December 7th, after taking much heat from the opposition to start earlier.  And while Doer argues the session will the be longest in western Canada, Faurschou stresses the other provinces have valid explanations.

Turtle Mountain MLA Cliff Cullen feels the speech from the throne debates alone will take up ten days of the three-week session.

Faurschou adds the short session poses questions about the government's transparency.
