The Portage Collegiate Trojans Junior Varsity boys basketball team came out on top 98-37 against the Stonewall Rams yesterday. The Trojans grabbed hold of the lead early and never let go of it, as the score was 38-4 after the first quarter. Head coach Darin Arnold says he was impressed with the strong start.

"We played pretty sloppy on Tuesday at Westwood and didn't have a very good game," says Arnold. "In practice the focus was coming out, running what we needed to run and playing with intensity. Our starters did that and because our starters did that, we were able to get our bench in for a lot of the game."

Storm Myran led the Trojans in scoring as he was able to rack up 19 points and Brennan Maud wasn't too far behind with 13. Teagan Wollbaum also had a good outing, putting up 12 points and all of them came from the long ball as he hit four three-point shots.

Despite still being undefeated, Arnold outlines where he thinks they can be better.

"Boxing out," says Arnold. "We've talked a lot about that. We still gave up a lot of offensive rebounds tonight because we weren't boxing out. We worked on that all week and we've talked about it all week. So, hopefully, we've learned our lesson and we can do it this weekend."

The Trojans will be playing in a tournament this weekend at Churchill high school, and their first matchup is with the Grant Park Pirates.
