Excitement filled the air in the Central Plains region as the United Way hosted its inaugural Fun Lunch, bringing together over 100 community members.

Megan Romphf and Kathryn Dalton, representing United Way, hosted the event, putting together an unforgettable lunch of great company.

"We were thrilled to see such an enthusiastic response from local businesses and community members," says Dalton. "The Fun Lunch provided a fantastic opportunity to strengthen bonds within the community while raising awareness for our cause."

The event, which took place on Friday, February 16th, featured many entertaining activities, from cup-stacking competitions to challenging Cheerio races with chopsticks.

In addition to providing a platform for fun and games, the Fun Lunch also served as a fundraising opportunity for United Way. Through initiatives such as a rainbow auction and a 50/50 draw, the organization raised approximately $1,000, further fueling its mission to support local community initiatives. Romphf mentioned the significance of events like the Fun Lunch is more than just raising money for United Way.

"Beyond the fundraising aspect, events like these are instrumental in fostering a sense of unity and shared purpose within our community. It's about coming together to make a tangible difference in the lives of those who need it most."

Looking ahead, United Way has a busy schedule of events planned, including participation in the Community Foundation's 150 Women Who Care and collaboration with CBYF on a youth mental health summit. Furthermore, the organization will host a free film, "Connecting the Dots," on March 6th at the local cinema, open to all community members.

The United Way in Central Plains representatives extended a huge thanks to the volunteers and donors whose contributions played a pivotal role in making the Fun Lunch a resounding success.
