Sgt Paul Menaigre says information was provided to Ste. Rose du Lac RCMP detachment advising that Mr. Racette was spotted in the Bacon Ridge community. Officers attended to the location where he attempted to flee, but he was arrested without incident.

Once he was apprehended he was transported back to Dauphin and returned to custody.

He was missing since August 15 and captured August 29th, making it two weeks.

Original story:

34-year-old Dustin Joseph Racette escaped from the custody of Manitoba Corrections Officers on August 14th. It's been reported Racette was being treated at the Dauphin hospital, when he assaulted the officers and then ran.

An immediate search of the area by Corrections Officers and the RCMP failed to find him, and it's believed he may have been picked up by a nearby waiting vehicle.

After recent sightings here over the last few days, RCMP have turned their attention to Portage. He is described as 5'9", 210 lbs, with brown hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing grey sweat pants and a grey sweat shirt.

He is facing multiple charges, including Escaping Lawful Custody, Assault with a Weapon and Assault a Police Officer with a Weapon.

You are asked to contact RCMP if you see Racette, and you are asked not to approach him, as he may become violent.
