Portage la Prairie and the surrounding area experienced quite the downpour yesterday with streets and parking lots becoming shallow lakes thanks to the torrential rainfall.

Local weather watcher Henry Romance recorded rainfall amounts varying from 38.4 mm in Bagot to as much as 54.7 mm in Gladstone. Meanwhile, Environment Canada reports 23.2 mm fell in Portage yesterday, according to the data collected at the Portage Southport Airport station.

For today, Environment Canada forecasts showers amounting between 5 and 10 mm and will wrap up by early evening. Mellow temperatures are expected into the weekend with highs of 24 and 25 expected for Saturday and Sunday.
