The province's proposed legislation to limit night hunting activity is being supported by the Portage Wildlife Club.

President Drew McRae says it's something they watch closely.

"We fully support the safety aspect of the ban," he says,"You cannot look away from the possible incidents that may occur as a result of night hunting. And I think as a safety aspect, it's going to be a good thing."

McRae adds it's especially important for rural Manitoba residents.

"There's some concern there about the night hunting," he says, "And the fact that, to a certain extent, themselves, their farm equipment, their farm animals, those types of things, could obviously be affected by a stray bullet, so that right there is the main reason that we support it."
