The Woodlands Rec Club is one big step closer to some upgrades to their outdoor rink. They hosted a CFRY radio amateur talent night this past weekend and saw huge support from Woodlands and the surrounding area with nearly two hundred people in attendance and a steady stream of pledges. Rec Club Board member Carly Howelko says the evening exceeded expectations in terms of pledges and the size of the crowd. She describes the community as a tight-knit and generous one saying their fundraising total of 17,645.00 definitely reflects that. Rec Club president Jeremy Fisher extends a special thanks to the event sponsors who made up about half of the fundraising total. There were 14 acts entered for the event with cash prizes awarded to the top pledge earners.

The Zack Voth band was awarded CFRY's "Most Promising Talent" for the evening.
