A recent report has given reason for both Federal and Municipal Government to review the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

The report shows even though the percentage of youth under custody has decreased, the crime rate still remains high.

Portage's M-L-A David Faurschou says there are steps the Provincial Government are taking to deal with young criminals.  Faurschou adds there is a general concern in the public, and there is an urgency to see changes.

The average age of youth in custody is between 12 and 17 years.
