The Cargill Curling Training Centre and the Morris Curling Club are hosting one of the first curling events since the COVID-19 pandemic. It is the Manitoba Junior Curling Tour event which was postponed from the spring. Lorne Hamblin talks more about the action.

“We’ve got eight Junior Men’s teams and three Junior Women’s teams,” says Hamblin. “There’s two pools in the Men’s division of a round-robin. The tiebreakers are being played at 9:00 on Saturday evening.”

The event started last night with two evening draws. There will be five draws today at 8 a.m., 11 a.m., 2 p.m., 6 p.m., and 9 p.m. The final draw is set for Sunday at 4:00.

Hamblin also talks about how the facility has been operating through COVID-19.

“We just postponed events in hope that, as COVID unfolded, we would be in a position to open curling again,” says Hamblin. “We opened on July 7th for summer training following the Manitoba health guidelines and directives under COVID-19.”
