20 of the world's best curling teams will be in Portage la Prairie this weekend for the Canad Inns Men’s Classic.

"Prep is going really well," says Trent Ward, Canad Inns Destination Centre general manager. "The ice is in, and it's looking nice and fresh and ready to go. Of course, at this time of the year everything is fresh and brand new pebble, and brand new ice.The logos look sharp and we make the arena look really nice -- flowers and signs and all that sort of stuff."

Ward says they usually start planning at the end of the previous year's event, and keep communication open with the teams through the entire year. He adds they keep up with what they feel should be added and what they didn't like. Ward notes invitations are sent out at the first of June.

He says curlers enjoy coming to a great event with the best ice conditions, and that's what's here, and is the reason the top world teams are here for the weekend.
