Last night the Portage Active Transportation Committee hosted their Fall Crawl. The event is meant to bridge the gap between Bike Week at the start of summer with fall, which is generally acknowledged as the end of the biking season.

Portage Active Transportation Committee member Maureen Owens says it was a great event to get people out one last time.

"It's just a way to close off the summer, the biking season with one more event," says Owens. "Attaching that to Bike Week, it's overall a portage Active Transportation Committee initiative. What we do is highlight some of the trails in the community, where they are and getting people out on them while remembering that they are there."

The crawl consisted of a bike ride followed by a hamburger and beverage as part of the ticket price.

"It's a celebration," says Owens. "We partnered with Café on Prince to do burgers and a drink. It's just a fun activity for the community focused on active transportation."

The event was a hit, with all tickets being sold out.
