Golden West's Brake for Breakfast with Dino's Appliance and Mattress Centre program, in partnership with the Portage la Prairie School Division, saw staggering success yesterday as donations, both food and monetary, flooded in all day long.

The sixth annual fundraising event, which had 11 different partners join forces for the cause, saw the community contribute 2,020 boxes of cereal along with $5,780 - significantly eclipsing last year's total of 500 boxes and $1,200. In fact - one individual donation Thursday nearly catapulted this year's total ahead of last as Long Plain First Nation - Education generously donated $1,000.

Portage la Prairie School Division wrap coordinator, Cori Asham, discusses the support from this year's event.

"This is unbeleiveable, we are so thankful to all the corporate sponsors and the people behind the scenes to make this so successful and everyone who came out and donated."

Dean Dubois of Dino's Appliance & Mattress Centre - a long time partner and staunch supporter of the event - speaks about their involvement.

"Back a few years ago when we came about with it there was just a lot of talk about the breakfast programs in the schools and how they were short of being able to support it so we decided we would come up with something and we've been running with it for four of five years now."
