Last night, XCompany Dance Studio in Portage la Prairie held their year end "In the Spotlight" dance showcase at the William Glesby Centre. The event highlights every dancer's hard work.

Owner Bretton Selent says it went really well.

"It went awesome," says Selent. "It flew by, it was speedy, it was quick, it wasn't three hours, which was awesome. The overall quality and performance level of our kids from last year is just insane, huge amounts of growth."

At the end of the evening, the company announced their first-ever scholarship award, given to deserving dancer Caitlyn Lobreau. She was teary-eyed after the surprise announcement.

"I'm very happy," says Lobreau. "I'm just very happy, and want to say thank you to Bretton and Miss Lindsay."

Lobreau has been dancing with XCompany since she was four-years-old. She initially started off with hip-hop, then moved to jazz and musical theatre, and then went back to hip-hop.

The scholarship will be used for Lobreau's future dance classes.

"In the Spotlight" continues today with two more shows at 1:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.
