Manitoba First Nations Police Service responded to a firearms call this weekend.

Police received a call from Sandy Bay First Nation on August 9th. A male was reported to be high on Methamphetamine and carrying a long rifle firearm on Centre Road.

MFNPS arrived and confronted the suspect who threw the gun into the bush, then fled. Police recovered the firearm.

The K-9 unit arrived and they tracked the male suspect to a local residence.

The homeowners granted police access to the home and found the suspect hiding in a bedroom.

Police engaged the male and took him into custody without incident.

The suspect has been charged with several firearms offences.
