Neepawa has a new Mayor while most of its council changed through the recent municipal election. Blake McCutcheon was voted in by a wide margin with 952 votes against 283 for previous Mayor Adrian De Groot. McCutcheon shares what it feels like.

"It's pretty exciting," notes McCutcheon. "As I've said before, it's something I probably hadn't thought of six or nine months ago. But it's kind of how the summer unfolded here. There were some things going on in the community that I think caused a lot of the voters to just think a change was required. So, I put my name in along with a lot of new councillors."

He says it obviously indicates the election saw a vote for change in Neepawa. McCutcheon notes they were looking for a change in direction to gain a mayor and council who are more engaged in the community, He says the spread was more than he anticipated for himself as well as the councillors. With five incumbents running with only two getting back in, McCutcheon adds change in the minds of the community was top of mind.
