On Tuesday, June 27, 2017, just before 2:00 p.m., Headingley RCMP responded to the report of an armed robbery at a rural residence on Highway 26 in the RM St. Francois Xavier, Manitoba. When police arrived on the scene, it was discovered that a male and two females in a car had pulled into the driveway of a residence.

"A man and two women in a car had pulled into the driveway of a residence and confronted the homeowner right there on his driveway," says RCMP Manitoba Media Relations Officer Tara Seel. "The male suspect threatened the homeowner with a gun, demanded all the guns at the residence as well as the keys to the homeowner's Buick Lacrosse. The homeowner gave the suspect his keys as well as the guns at the residence. Thankfully he wasn't injured."

The suspects then set fire to the first vehicle and fled in the Buick.

Police tracked the suspects who headed to Portage la Prairie. Because police believed the suspect to be armed, after already having threatened a civilian, public safety measures were enforced including an alert to the public and assisting with the lockdown of local schools.

As reported Tuesday, all suspects have been apprehended. The male suspect was shot and received non-life threatening injuries. The Independent Investigation Unit will be investigating the circumstances surrounding the arrest and the injury.

The investigation continues with the assistance of RCMP Major Crime Services.

The suspects cannot be named until charges are sworn before the court.
