The Lions Manor in the town of Stonewall is in the process of expanding it's senior centre. Stonewall Deputy Mayor Clive Hinds says the manor houses seniors from all of the surrounding area and explains the expansion.

"The Lions Manor houses a lot of the seniors in and around Stonewall from Rockwood, Rosser and the Woodlands area. The new senior resource centre is being built because of an expansion that is to take place with the Lions Manor that is an increase of 72 new suites."

Hinds says he's happy with the Lion's expansion to the manor because senior housing is always an issue.

"We're very, very pleased with the expansion because the biggest thing that most rural communities face is seniors housing. It's always first and foremost on all of the agendas, and we we're facing that situation. With the Lion's stepping up to build that facility, it really alleviated some of the problems that we we're facing."

Hinds says the new 800 square foot resource centre will include washroom facilities, a work area, and an exercise room. He says the 72 suites being added will definitely help cut down the 2 year waiting list for the manor, so he hopes to get the project finished as soon as possible.
